warrior and chief]
. He was among the most celebrated Native American leaders in history and was known as a strong and eloquent orator who promoted tribal unity. He was also ambitious, willing to take risks, and make significant sacrifices to repel the Americans from Native American lands in the Old NW Territory.
Tecumseh and his confederacy continued to fight the United States after forming an alliance with Great Britain in the War of 1812. //
With a chapter on Israel Putnam, the Revolutionary War hero for whom Putnam County New York is named. Putnam was capture in 1758 and his
native American captors had determined to burn him alive
. Putnam was saved from death by a French officer; he was then taken to Montreal where he was eventually freed.

A beautiful solid, and rare book!
Text & boards very secure.
Tips look good, spine ends a bit curled. Back cover looks very good for its age- one very small spot. Much wear /fading to the gilt - especially the spine. The paste-downs and end papers may be newer, if they are not, they are in excellent condition!   No rips, writing, or folds that I saw.
pages are very clean, no spots that I saw!
