    Description

echoplex ep-3. Condition is "Used".but excellent  condition for its age is good . its one of the transisional pre willobe ohio models. Clevland is crossed out and willlobe ohio was stamped on inside of lid. Its has the particle board box but All the circuts and cap values are exacly the same as a clevland ohio maestro model. There is no compressor circut ( this is a good thing) and most importantly this one still had the old round motor. ( not the cheaper square motor that had problems burning up) ive had Tom from Detroit Amp lab compleatley referbish it . the pinch roller is new and made in austailia . cost 125 buck but well worth it. Last a life time. The heads are in very good condition and we demagnatized . new special nos 8 track tape was used as tom said it sounds the best and unit was rebaised . also has new drive belt and motor was clean and balanced. The caps were chose for best tone and reliability. Nishcons and mallorys were used. All 8 of the. Old white mallories were replaced with Nichcons and the power and filter cap sections are new  mallories.  This ep3 sounds great . it has just a touch if wow and flutter but very little. It actually sound good as it adds a suble chorusing effect which i like. As with most echo plex machines there is a little white noise but not enough to bother you. This unit is rock solid and is 100% ready to go! Its one of the good ones so dont hesitate . nothing sounds this good other than a another echo plex!! This piticular echo plex belonged to a friend of mine who cut his fingers off in the 70s. He never played again and the machine sat in a closet all this time until now. So it did not see a lot of use !
