COMPLETELY WRITTEN IN HIS HAND!
It reads:
"
My Dear Sir
I thank you for your letter of this morning. I am disappointed as I have been, so often before by my Brothers absence. Do you know the occasion which called him to Boston. When did he leave home. Has Mr. Kimball paid the 0 which he promised when at your office to pay about the 1st of June. I shall remain here three or four days. It is possible that I may go to Hillsboro on Wednesday.
Yr friend
Franklin Pierce
Concord, July 4, 1860
F.N. Blood, Esq

N.H.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is framed in a
period framing of the 1860's
. It is totally
ORIGINAL
. Nothing has been done to restore the framing or the document. It features a gold inlay fillet (expensive to do even today). The outside scoring with gold inlay may have been done by hand.
The period framing is worth several hundred dollars by itself
- something that is
NOT INCLUDED
with the other ALS letters being offered on eBay right now.
It had been stored in the walk-in vault of an attorney in Concord, N.H. for many decades before it was acquired by an antiques dealer living in New Hampshire. He obtained MANY documents, letters and memorabilia belonging or pertaining to President Franklin Pierce over a period of 20 years. F.N. Blood was President Pierce's attorney. That's why he was referenced in the bottom left side.
This famed presentation comes with a
Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
from myself,
Charles K. Bird Dealer/Collector

You you decide that it is in fact his handwriting. It is too similar to extent letters to be a "secretarial written letter". I am representing the gentleman who acquired a great amount of Franklin Pierce documents and memorabilia while living in New Hampshire over 30 years ago. His collection is so large that the New Hampshire Historical Society, Bowdoin College and the US Library of Congress was asking to acquire some or all of his collection.
